ABOUT US

LIGHT RIVER GROUP

When cross-functional teams aren’t aligned, progress is either slow or non-existent. Team members are frustrated at best and exhausted and dejected in the worst-case scenarios. Leaders spend extra time getting everyone moving in the same direction, taking them away from their most strategic work. At Light River Group, we help leaders align key stakeholders and get everyone playing out of the same playbook.

 ALISON JARRETT

Alison spent 20+ years working in multinationals and start-ups with a focus on FinTech.  She has deep global experience after working in 3 countries, with 20+ countries from NY, and traveling to 50+.  With high emotional intelligence and curiosity for new cultures, she loves connecting with people and understanding what makes them tick.  She’s been building relationships virtually for years before COVID hit the scene. Some may call it herding cats, but she knows the secrets to getting different global stakeholders aligned around a common goal so objectives can be achieved.

Alison is an ICF Certified Professional Coach (1000+ coaching hours) and helps leaders define their leadership style, build effective global teams, manage stakeholders, and get out of their own way.

When not working, Alison is with her family, practicing yoga and meditating.  One accomplishment she is most proud of is sitting in a month-long meditation retreat in 80% silence. Like most things in life, it was one of the hardest and most rewarding experiences.

Alison received her BA in History from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and her Masters in Law & Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University.  She trained with the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and is certified through CTI, the International Coach Federation, and Leadership Circle Profile.

Speaks conversational Spanish and French.

Expertise: Stakeholder management, global and cross-functional teams, influence, executive coaching, leadership development, facilitation, and herding cats.

TESTIMONIALS

Alison’s background in tech and global business made her coaching feel very real.  She is an excellent listener and her coaching is a mix of down-to-earth tactics and high-level strategies.  She helped me build my management toolkit so I have more options when dealing with tough situations on my team.  For example, I am more confident and better equipped to have some difficult conversations with one of our best machine learning developers.  She also helped me navigate the cultural differences of the U.S. work environment so I understood how my communications might be received differently than I intended.

Through my work with Alison I gained a great deal of confidence and recognized the importance of promoting myself.  This led to my asking for and receiving a significant raise and was hugely meaningful to my work and my life.  Alison is a thought partner, has her finger tips at a wide array of resources, and truly cares about the people she coaches. She has incredible experiences herself which she pulls from, and she has just the right touch to both hold me accountable and promote my own leadership in our coaching relationship.

I went into coaching skeptical of how it would turn out. Would it be a useful? How much value would it add? Much to my relief, all of these concerns disappeared after my first session with Alison.  I've been hearing from managers for years that a major development area was to improve my empathy and how I connect with peers - but none were able to guide me on how to make that happen.  Alison taught me the importance and value of empathy in a few short hours, and her listening skills plus engaging questions helped me cut through self-imposed walls and come out a better leader.
